This is a demonstration garden and prototype for other recreation centers seeking to provide instruction and experience in home food production, and create healthy and constructive environments for local youth and teens of Norfolk. The garden is located at the East Ocean View Community Center at 9520 20th Bay Street. It produces vegetables year-round, and requires volunteers weekly to plant, water, weed and provide all needed maintenance. It is cleared once in the spring for the spring/summer garden and again in the fall for the fall/winter garden and all produce is shared with local residents and participating community members.
